Gadna
President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin today, Wednesday 4 December / 6 Kislev, visited the IDF Education Corps’ Gadna (IDF pre-enlistment training program) base at Sde Boker. The president was briefed on the Gadna program, participated in a lesson with the students and spoke with the officers. The president was escorted on his visit by IDF Personnel Directorate commander Maj-Gen Moti Almoz and Chief Education Officer Brig-Gen Tzvika Fairaisen.
“II am happy to be here with current IDF soldiers and officers, and with future IDF soldiers and officers,” said the president to the Gadna participants. Referring to falling motivation amongst young people to enlist in combat units in recent years, the president said, “We have young people of your age who ask ‘why do we need this?’ Or ‘what do I get out of it?’. But you must remember that we face many security challenges, and we need you. We need excellent, high-quality young people not just in intelligence or cyber units, but also in the battalions, recon units, special forces, infantry, artillery and everywhere else. We need your determination, your values, your bravery and your belief. This is a social and national mission of the highest priority.”
The president concluded his remarks by expressing his appreciation for the Gadna commanders and instructors and wished the participants an easy and meaningful enlistment into the IDF.
